Read about new NDAA counter-drone authorities, safe drone takedowns at public events, software-defined C-UAS, and a BIG Innovation Award win — all in our January newsletter
Selected news, content, incidents, and information about C-UAS and the counter-drone world, from a D-Fend perspective, based on our vision of enabling a flourishing and secure drone-powered society by safely defending against rogue drone threats.
Key provisions included in the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) expand legal authorities for drone detection, tracking, and identification and mitigation to trained state and local law enforcement officials and correctional agencies. Enactment of these provisions would be a historic and significant step forward in strengthening national security.
Software has become the true center of gravity in counter-UAS. In a world where drone threats evolve by the week, continuous software updates and software-defined detection and mitigation, as well as multi-sensor command and control now determine whether defenders will keep pace … or fall behind.
2025 was one of the most dynamic years yet for uncrewed systems, with major advances across sensing, autonomy, endurance, navigation resilience, and counter-UAS capability. In Counter-UAS & Airspace Protection, counter-drone systems matured significantly in response to increasingly complex civilian and military airspace threats, highlighting D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir PLUS for expanding cyber-driven detection and takeover options.
This data-driven round-up brings together the year’s most-read articles, showing how defense organizations focused on strengthening unmanned capability across domains, enhancing soldier and operator effectiveness, and investing in the enabling systems that underpin resilient, multi-domain operations. C-UAS rounded out the top innovations, including D-Fend Solutions' EnforceAir PLUS system.
D-Fend Solutions’ UK counter-drone demonstrations showed EnforceAir PLUS and EnforceAir2 operating in realistic operational scenarios, performing controlled, cyber-based detection and mitigation across fixed, vehicle-based, and tactical configurations for defense, law enforcement, and government stakeholders.

Scaling Counter-Drone Operations Without Added Complexity
MSC2, D-Fend Solutions’ centralized command and control solution, enables security teams to manage multiple EnforceAir deployments as a single, coordinated system. It addresses the operational challenge of wide-area coverage without adding complexity. When mitigation is required, MSC2 dynamically assigns the most appropriate EnforceAir unit to take control of the specific drone, while other EnforceAir systems simultaneously continue detection, tracking, and identification or mitigate additional threats in parallel.
