# C-UAS Glossary

### C-UAS (Counter-Unmanned Aerial System)

C-UAS refers to policies, technologies, and operational strategies used to detect, track, identify, and mitigate unauthorized drones in protected airspace. C-UAS **detection technologies** may include radar, electro-optical/infrared sensors, acoustic sensors, traditional RF detection systems, and RF-cyber capabilities. **Mitigation approaches** may include kinetic methods, electronic jamming, and RF cyber-takeover capabilities.

The optimal approach depends on the operating environment, threat profile, and operational objectives. Modern C-UAS doctrine places special emphasis on non-disruptive, non-kinetic options when operating in sensitive, urban, and critical infrastructure environments where public safety and operational continuity are paramount.
