A collection of C-UAS content curated by D-Fend Solutions
Selected news, content, incidents, and information about C-UAS, and the counter-drone world, from a D-Fend perspective, based on our vision of enabling a flourishing and secure drone-powered society by safely defending against rogue drone threats.
In this interview, former British military officer and current UK Managing Director for D-Fend Solutions, Martin Broomhead, provides his unique perspective on counter-UAS challenges for today’s urban and sensitive environments in the UK and beyond. Martin covers drone proliferation, use cases, trends, incidents, C-UAS configurations, regulations, and more.
Drones are a fast-growing segment of defense. As drone tech grows, so do countermeasures. Innovations in counter drones include tech to detect hostile drones with pinpoint accuracy, capture hostile drones without collateral damage, or complete a cyber takeover of a hostile drone to safely take control and land it. Countermeasures must be rapidly developed in a never-ending cat and mouse game combined with leapfrog on steroids.
Dawn Zoldi, renowned drone industry thought leader, makes a rousing call to action to urgently confront the rising rogue drone threat. She emphasizes that rapid adoption of safe and viable C-UAS technologies is essential, and EnforceAir is the only system named as a relevant solution: “Precision and cyber-based solutions, such as D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir, which can safely take over rogue drones and land them in a predefined zone with pinpoint accuracy, can safely work in these situations, and have been proven with hundreds of deployments globally.”
‘Fuerte Mendizábal’ has started testing the new fixed anti-drone detection and mitigation system, making Ceuta prison the second penitentiary center in Spain to install a system with these features, since this same system was installed in the Penitentiary Center of Málaga I in Alhaurín de la Torre at the end of December 2022. This innovative system will prevent the use of drones from the outside from bringing in drugs, money, cell phones, alcohol and medicine.
D-Fend Solutions is dedicated to ensuring smooth implementation and operation of the EnforceAir system. The Technical Support Team is committed to resolving any software and hardware issues promptly.By supervising the implementation process, they address any technical questions or issues customers may have, including troubleshooting and in-depth software and hardware analysis.
Customers who consult, report issues, and raise improvement requests are valuable to the company, as they see D-Fend as a partner which assists them during their journey of operating the product through its lifecycle.
MEET A D-FENDER
Mark Rutherford, Sales Director, UK Airports & Government Business
Mark “can’t sit still for one minute” is what most people say when his name comes up. Mark started his career as a mechanical engineer before joining the esteemed Parachute Regiment in the British Army. Unfortunately, an injury cut this position too soon, which led him to join the UK Army Air Corps. He completed his role by flying Apache helicopters in Afghanistan, which led to being decorated for gallantry with a Military Cross by the Queen of England on his last day in uniform.
After successfully building and selling an aviation security company with friends, Mark aimed to retire… until he met D-Fend Solution
Mark joined D-Fend a year ago with the primary focus on selling to UK airports. “I came out of retirement because I saw the opportunity of selling EnforceAir to UK airports as a huge challenge. Everyone in the UK who has tested the system – in sectors such as defense, police, science, etc., raves about it and comments that ‘nothing can touch’ EnforceAir.”
A climber, walker and family guy, Mark’s counter-drone enthusiasm is inspirational and encouraging.(Check out the series of blogs he has written recently.)
