Read about the mysterious drone sightings across the U.S., how D-Fend enhanced
airspace safety at the Amigo Airsho, and secured $31M to strengthen cyber counter-drone technology, and more — in
our December newsletter
Selected news, content,
incidents, and information about C-UAS, and the counter-drone world, from a D-Fend
perspective, based on our vision of enabling a flourishing and secure drone-powered
society by safely defending against rogue drone threats.
The strange lights in the sky are real. The
panic across America is real.
There are more questions than answers as
millions of Americans worry about the bright orbs and triangular objects that are
increasingly swarming the night skies.
The threat from drones could grow. Most
drones are used safely for recreation or in industries like agriculture,
construction, and defence, but as the skies get more crowded every day there could
be bad actors using drones, and defence analysts are concerned about the threat of
flying IEDs (improvised explosive devices). That’s why we need new generations of
technology to focus on that.
A modern-day “War of the Worlds” drama
unfolding in New Jersey reveals a new reality: Drones are an airborne fixture in
America.
The story boils down to a variety of
possible nefarious use cases such as boys playing with toys, criminally motivated
bad actors, and spying.
With the massive proliferation of a
technology that for the most part does positive, beneficial things, there will be a
small percentage of bad actors. Air space defense in general came from the military
realm, but this speaks to the need for new technologies more suitable for monitoring
highly urban environments.
The El Paso International Airport has
successfully piloted a project to monitor the airspace during the recent Amigo
Airsho.
The City says the Amigo Airsho drew over
60,000 attendees, with the airport implementing advanced counter-drone measures to
safeguard restricted airspace.
The airport partnered with D-Fend
Solutions, a global counter-drone technology provider to protect the event and its
attendees.
To protect the event and its participants,
the ELP implemented D-Fend’s counter-drone measures to safeguard restricted
airspace.
“The initiative provided a unique
opportunity to test counter-drone technology in a dynamic and challenging
environment like an airshow,” D-Fend said. “By detecting and mitigating unauthorised
drones, the programme successfully prevented disruptions and demonstrated the
potential for future safety enhancements.”
As rogue drone
incidents escalate worldwide, D-Fend Solutions is stepping up to meet the challenge
with cutting-edge technology and significant financial backing. The counter-drone
specialist has announced a $31 million investment round led by Israel Growth Partners
(IGP), alongside existing investor Vertex Ventures and new contributor Vertex Growth.
C-UAS Hub spoke with D-Fend Solutions at
the Counter UAS Technology USA conference:
“This investment not only validates our
innovative approach to cyber counter-drone technology but also empowers us to
accelerate our global expansion and product development.”
“As the drone threat landscape evolves,
D-Fend Solutions is poised to lead the charge in protecting security forces,
sensitive sites, and events worldwide.”
While
defenses against traditional warfare methods are well-established, counter-drone
defense is a rapidly evolving field. This is where the EnforceAir2 from D-Fend
Solutions comes into play. The EnforceAir2 specializes in takeover technology. This
takeover approach not only reduces limitations found in early counter-drone
technology but also provides valuable intelligence.
Dawn Zoldi on using counter-drone
technology based on RF cyber to safeguard ports, ships and offshore facilities
against rogue drone threats.
With its vast expanse of open waters and
critical infrastructure, the maritime sector presents unique vulnerabilities to
drone-based threats – as well as a complex landscape for drone defence. From
operational disruptions and smuggling to espionage and terrorism, the maritime drone
threat remains as varied as the operational environment itself.
In this article co-authored by D-Fend
Solutions' President Yaniv Benbenisti and CMO Jeffrey Starr, the growing threat of
drones and the effectiveness of RF cyber technology in counter-drone defense are
examined. The piece provides a comprehensive overview of RF cyber solutions'
capabilities in addressing critical homeland security challenges, covering the
growing threat of drones, advantages of RF Cyber detection, effective mitigation
strategies, and real-world applications.
The advantages and effectiveness of newly
developed RF cyber technology are compared to existing counter-UAS neutralization
methods, particularly within the context of the Korean security environment.

Randy Miller visits with D-Fend Solutions,
live from the AUSA Conference, to discuss controlling the skies above, and in
particular, countering and controlling dangerous drones. The podcast walks us
through why this type of tech is so crucial and how the mitigation of dangerous
drones can take place.
