Complexities of Addressing Hostile Drone Threats

SIA Security Industry Association, June 6, 2024

Addressing UAS security risks while safeguarding our society was one of the key challenges explored during the SIA GovSummit panel. Counter-drone technologies rooted in military strategies may prove inadequate in sensitive civilian environments, leading to disruptions and potential collateral damage, and C-UAS measures in sensitive environments should aim to achieve fast and accurate detection, safety, and continuity.

Prior to his experience with those companies, Martin served for 25 years as a helicopter pilot with the British Army Air Corps, where he was awarded the Air Force Cross by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for executing a double engine off landing with no tail rotor control.

In his current role with D-Fend Solutions, Martin manages the company’s UK business interests.

“Early on, I was impressed by the company's values and positive energy. I joined an incredible team of people all driving hard to deliver the best customer experience possible.”

“I was also blown away by the technology behind EnforceAir. Our system has never been more relevant than it is today, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be working for a company at the cutting edge of C-UAS.”

When he’s not managing the UK office and helping customers to contend with drone threats, Martin enjoys mountain biking, hiking, paddle boarding, and playing padel tennis.

"I'm delighted to be growing the UK team and excited about the future."
