Read about D-Fend's expansion in the UK, new maritime C-UAS tech and realities of drone incursions — in
our March newsletter
Selected news, content, incidents, and information about C-UAS and the counter-drone world, from a D-Fend perspective, based on our vision of enabling a flourishing and secure drone-powered society by safely defending against rogue drone threats.
A crucial yet often overlooked aspect of radio frequency (RF)
counter-uncrewed aircraft system (C-UAS) technology evaluations
involves testing something called “the downlink-only scenario.”
C-UAS professionals must ensure the effectiveness of RF cyber
takeover systems in real-world situations by employing proper
testing protocols. These truly test for what is likely to occur
in the field (e.g., what actually happens with hostile drone
activity) instead of just what is easy to demonstrate.
Recent reports of unusual drone activity in the eastern US have sparked public speculation and highlighted a critical gap in our airspace security. These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the evolving drone threat landscape and the urgent need for advanced Counter-UAS (C-UAS) technology adoption. New vulnerabilities must be addressed.
In an exclusive Q&A, D-Fend Solutions talks about how the increasing accessibility of commercial drones has changed the global threat landscape, the challenges of detecting and neutralizing smaller drones, and how D-Fend Solutions’ RF cyber takeover technology offers unique advantages over traditional counter-drone methods.
A drone operated by a hotel guest crashed into a New York Hilton Hotel on February 21.
D-Fend Solutions, which manufactures C-UAS technology and provides a drone incident tracker feed on its website, said the increasing frequency of drone incursions into sensitive airspace calls for a fundamental shift in C-UAS preparations. “The question is no longer if a drone incident will occur, but when and how prepared we are to respond.”.
D-Fend Solutions shared, in the wake of serious incidents involving drones violating controlled airspace, innovative solutions for securing airspace globally. D-Fend Solutions is not a proponent of jamming but has developed new, safer technologies, and is working on new, cunning solutions to sanitize our airspace.
D-Fend has rounded out its U.K. team with key leadership positions. Managing Director Martin Broomhead, a British Army Air Corps veteran pilot brings extensive corporate aerospace and defense industry experience. Mark Rutherford, Sales Director, engages with D-Fend’s aviation, infrastructure, and governmental customers. Simon Foreman, a former Royal Navy Commander and Senior Weapon Engineer Officer, leads the pre-sales efforts. Myles Gabriel brings extensive avionics technician experience to ensure successful implementations, training, and customer support.
Drones are everywhere these days, from hobbyists capturing stunning aerial shots to critical military and security operations. But what happens when drones become a threat — especially at sea? D-Fend Solutions has an answer. The counter-drone technology specialist has launched EnforceAir2 Maritime, a specialized version of its powerful EnforceAir2 system, designed to neutralize rogue drones in open-sea and near-shore environments. And that’s not all — the company is also expanding its global footprint with a new UK office in London to better serve European markets.
D-Fend Solutions, a prominent developer of counter-drone technology, has introduced the EnforceAir2 Maritime system, a cutting-edge solution specifically designed to address the growing threat of unauthorized drone activity in maritime environments. Building on the success of its existing EnforceAir2 technology, the new system has been tailored to meet the unique challenges encountered in naval and maritime operations.

As a Lead Engineer at D-Fend Solutions, Clint Holloway’s primary role focuses on integrations in the US.
Within that role, he’s integrated D-Fend counter-drone
technology with vehicles, command and control platforms, and
multilayer C-UAS system solutions from a wide range of
international technology providers across the industry.
Clint has about two decades of experience that includes track
fusion across multiple C-UAS systems, integrating Rada RPS-82,
Echodyne radars, Margate II ADS-B, MOOG Lycos EO/IR, RF
detection systems, and jammers.
During his career, Clint has been a Test and Evaluation Engineer, a
Principal Radar Engineer, and a Senior Technical Program Manager
with various government entities and corporations such as L3 Harris
and Thales.
Regarding his current role at D-Fend, Clint shared, “Working
at D-Fend is a rewarding experience, providing world-class C-UAS
RF-Cyber solutions to the world’s premier customers. The ability
to work with colleagues globally to solve a very demanding
problem set by deploying the most advanced RF-Cyber C-UAS
solution makes working at D-Fend the most rewarding job I’ve
ever had.”
