A collection of C-UAS content curated by D-Fend Solutions
Selected news, content, incidents, and information about C-UAS, and the counter-drone world, from a D-Fend perspective, based on our vision of enabling a flourishing and secure drone-powered society by safely defending against rogue drone threats.
D-Fend Solutions has announced the launch of its new product, EnforceAir2. The system now comes with even more power, performance, portability, and range, all in a more compact and accessible system, including: longer-range detection and mitigation coverage ranges; overcomes limitations of traditional COTS SDR platforms; multiple receivers and transmitters; powerful real-time processing; advanced RF technology; compliance with radio regulations; high-performance MIMO Antennas for improved radiation patterns and compact footprint form-factor implementation suitable for tactical or fixed applications.
“In a special demonstration for Defence Industry Europe, a company team operated the system. A drone approached the area where the system was located… after it was defined as a hostile one, it took control. The drone stopped its flight toward, and then was sent back to a safe open space and was forced to land.”
Counter-drone detection and takeover technology leader D-Fend Solutions has been chosen to take part in the FAA’s Airport UAS Detection and Mitigation Research Program, under Section 383 of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018.
D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir is mentioned as an example where “certain counter-drone technologies” were successfully employed … in cluttered urban environments. For example, in 2021, D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir, a precision and cyber-based solution that can safely take over rogue drones and land them in a predefined zone, helped safeguard the Pope and more than 60,000 worshippers, bishops, and priests attending a holy mass from a rogue drone.”
EnforceAir2, D-Fend Solutions’ next-generation product, features the best offerings of the original award-winning EnforceAir technology, with enhanced, expanded, and extended C-UAS capabilities. The system now comes with even more power, performance, portability, and range, all in a more compact and accessible system. EnforceAir2 delivers seamless operational flexibility, with multiuse deployment kit bundles, enabling tactical teams to overcome deployment challenges and unleash full operational flexibility. EnforceAir2 is a high-performance cyber C-UAS system, with long detection and mitigation range, and 360o omni coverage.
Troy joined D-Fend Solutions almost a year ago, bringing more than 28 years of experience in working with the US Department of Defense and intelligence agencies. Troy graduated from the US Naval Academy in Annapolis with a BS degree in computer science, and served over 14 years in the US Navy as a communications officer, with clearance from the DoD. He is passionate about making sure that the US Armed Forces and Intelligent Agencies have everything they need to protect the country and the people. Troy was attracted to D-Fend by the fact that drone threats have become a serious issue:
“I don’t want to hear or see another disaster scene because of a rogue drone incident. Drones are expanding worldwide, and the threats are real. Preventing such incidents is crucial to keep people safe, and that’s one of the reasons why I am diligently engaging with Federal defense and homeland security agencies executives in the US. Joining D-Fend helps me make a difference and be proactive in protecting our citizens. I am enthusiastic about my role at D-Fend because I believe in the company and its purpose in defending our people from such threats.”
Troy is dedicated to keeping the government aware about D-Fend’s EnforceAir counter drone system, especially its safety and ease of use. He is a skilled sales and customer service executive, providing high quality service to build a positive and supportive relationship with Federal and Military personnel and governmental partners and end users.
“I love seeing people happy with our system after a demo. I am always interacting with the whole D-Fend team, as we all have the same goals in mind. We work hard to be able to deliver the most effective C-UAS system today, and I expect every Federal Agency and Law Enforcement Unit to take on proper anti-drone systems for safety and continuity.”
He is a big American football fan, and played 4 years for the US Naval Academy team. His favorite teams are the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL and the Penn State Nittany Lions in the NCAA. Troy is also devoted to helping feed unfortunate children and adults around the world.
