LONDON, ONT., CANADA – D-Fend Solutions, the leader in field-proven radio frequency (RF) cyber-driven, non-kinetic, non-disruptive counter-drone takeover technology, successfully supported public safety operations during the Rock the Runway concert, held recently  at London International Airport. As the largest open-air music festival in Southwestern Ontario, the event drew over 25,000 attendees, requiring robust airspace security in a highly complex environment.

Working closely with Jones Entertainment Group, London Police Service, and the London International Airport Authority, D-Fend Solutions deployed its next-generation counter-drone system, EnforceAir2, to provide real-time detection of unauthorized drone activity – without jamming or kinetic engagement.

“Ensuring the safety of the public and the integrity of our airspace is our highest priority,” said Laura Shepherd, Director of Operations at London International Airport. “We were proud to collaborate with our partners and leverage innovative counter-drone technology during Rock the Runway. The system’s effectiveness in a complex Radio-Frequency (RF) environment underscored its value in safeguarding large-scale events without compromising aviation operations.”

Multiple drones were detected operating within 3km of the venue, including one unauthorized drone launched from within the event perimeter. Security personnel were immediately dispatched to address the incident. Thanks to the early warning provided by D-Fend Solutions’ technology, no disruptions occurred, and airspace security was maintained throughout the festival.

“Maintaining public safety and secure airspace during major public events requires close coordination among multiple partners,” said Inspector David Ellyat, Patrol Support Branch, London Police Service. “At Rock the Runway, all parties involved worked collaboratively to ensure a safe experience for everyone in attendance.”

The EnforceAir2 system provided seamless, continuous protection during the concert using its advanced RF-cyber takeover technology – safely contending with unauthorized drones without disruption. Its compact, portable design and best-in-class SWaP enabled rapid setup and flexible deployment across tactical, vehicular, and stationary use cases. Despite a high-density RF environment with thousands of devices, EnforceAir2 delivered interference-free performance, fully integrated with the London Police Service Operations Centre and Air Traffic Control for a coordinated, real-time response.

“Rock the Runway is all about creating an unforgettable experience for fans – and that starts with making sure everyone feels safe,” said Myriah Kay, Marketing Director at Jones Entertainment Group. “The integration of this advanced drone defense technology gave us peace of mind and allowed our team to focus on delivering a world-class event. We’re grateful to our security partners for raising the bar in event safety.”

This operation is part of D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir growing presence in securing public events, critical infrastructure, and sensitive facilities internationally. As drone activity continues to rise, proactive airspace protection is becoming a vital component of modern security planning.
